Sometimes I think we have forgotten the beauty of the spoken word. I love to hear the rush of words coming from a child's mouth in excitement, the tender cry of someone in pain, the hushed tones of a mother to her child, the random phone call to a loved one or long lost friend, the loving hug of a friend or family member. I think that the spoken word is such a sincere thing. In the world of social net*working, e-mail and texting we have forgotten that value. I am guilty of sending a quick e-mail to someone I am thinking of, but, wouldn't a phone call with a quick 'hello' tell you so much more about that person or stopping by when the spirit is prompting you that someone is in need? In the rush to be more efficient we have forgotten the meaning of true communication. I thought this quote says it better than I can:
"Electric communication will never be a substitute for the face of someone who with their soul encourages another person to be brave and true."
Charles Dickens
I plan to be better keeping in touch with those I care about, more than with an e-mail...please hold me to it!
